Managing Articles in WordPress: A Complete Guide
WordPress provides powerful and flexible tools for managing articles efficiently, whether you are creating new content or updating existing posts. In this guide, we will walk you through the complete process of managing articles in WordPress, including editing content, managing images, updating the featured image, changing publish dates, and scheduling posts.
Accessing the Articles Section
To manage articles in WordPress, go to your dashboard and select Posts from the sidebar menu. You will see a list of all articles on your website, including published posts, drafts, and scheduled articles.
- Edit any existing article
- Create a new article
- Filter articles by status or author
- Move articles to the trash or delete them
Editing Article Content
To edit an existing article, click on the article title or choose Edit. This will open the WordPress editor, where you can update text, headings, paragraphs, and other content elements.
Once you finish editing, click Update to save your changes, or Save Draft if the article is not ready to be published yet.
Managing Images Inside an Article
Removing an Image from the Content
To remove an image from an article, click on the image and select the delete option. This removes the image from the article content without deleting it from the Media Library.
Replacing or Editing an Image
You can replace an image with another one or edit its settings, such as alignment, size, or alt text. Updating the alt text helps improve accessibility and SEO.
Updating the Featured Image
The featured image represents the article in archives, listings, and homepage sections.
To update the featured image, open the article settings panel, click Set featured image, choose an image, and save your changes.
Changing the Publish Date
You can change the publish date by selecting a new date and time from the publish settings, then clicking Update to apply the changes.
Scheduling Articles for Future Publishing
WordPress allows you to schedule articles to be published automatically at a future date and time. Simply select a future date and click Schedule.
Deleting or Restoring Articles
When an article is deleted, it is moved to the Trash. From there, you can restore it or permanently delete it.
